Do you love fiber arts? Have you ever wanted to learn how to weave on a loom? In this six-week beginner course, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of four harness weaving. Four harness looms are flexible for creating different types of fabric and great for pattern design.

Description

This six-week introductory class is great for students starting or needing a review of multi-harness weaving. Amanda will provide students with the textbook and class binder at the beginning of their Introduction to Four Harness Weaving, where students will learn how to make and read a draft and execute a drawdown. Amanda will guide students through all the steps of creating a warp and warping the loom. Students will explore weaving various fabric structures while working on their samplers. The class will then cover finishing techniques and tips for planning your next project. The class is divided into six 3-hour weekly sessions.

 

Required Skills: 
NONE, perfect for a beginner weaver.

Materials:
 Students will be supplied with all fiber and tools required for this class.

 

Instruction, Thursdays 6-9 pm: January 9, January 16, January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13

Studio Time, Sundays 1-4 pm: (optional/as needed; highly recommended beginning the fourth week) January 12, January 19, January 26, February 2, February 9, February 16

Studio Time:
Studio time is available on Sundays from 1-4 pm on class meeting weeks. Please note that studio time is not instruction time (unless otherwise arranged as a make-up or catch-up session with Amanda) and is not limited to students in this class. It’s a great time to bring a friend you want to introduce to weaving! Attendees not enrolled in a class pay a fee of $10/hour for studio time and must provide/purchase weaving materials, depending on the project size they’re working on.
